  • Initiated and organized first annual Community Health and Wellness Fair (March 1, 2020).
  • Co-sponsored Healthy Eating, Active Living (HEAL) resolution adopted by Town.
  • Supported Housing Code ordinance which includes property maintenance standards, rental licensing, and inspections to help protect owners, renters and neighbors from unfair, unhealthy, and unsightly conditions.
  • Initiated Social Equity proclamation in response to events in 2020 highlighting continued systemic racism against African Americans and other minorities across the country.
  • Initiated and worked with Town Administration to install lights & security cameras at Bayfront Park parking lot.
  • Supported walkable community initiative
  • Identified opportunity & helped facilitate Town participation in countywide bioblitz​.
  • Initiated and organized Bayfront Park Walk and Talk educational series.
    • Initiated a pro-active health initiative targeting removal of Japanese Barberry bushes – an exotic and invasive species which is optimal habitat for Lyme-disease carrying ticks -- from town property. Town Administration removed all bushes from town property.
    • Voted to ban smoking and vaping on town property.
    • Chaired Twin Beach Opioid Abuse Awareness Committee: a coalition of concerned citizens and organizations dedicated to raising awareness about the opioid addiction epidemic and connecting those in need with recovery and support resources.
      • TBOAAC efforts to raise awareness and provide narcan training was responsible, in part,with a local decline of opioid overdoses and deaths.
      • TBOAAC recognized by Maryland Municipal League as a best practice & invited to participate in MML 2018 Summer Conference.
      • Calvert County Health Department recognized TBOAAC with Prevention Services Community Connection Award (2017)​.

• Transparency & Fiscal Responsibility in Government

  • ​Adopted Ethics ordinance for Town staff & Elected Officials that meets state standards.
  • Voted to reduce Town debt on multiple occasions (Total debt reduction: >$2.8 million) saving town >$700,000 in interest.
  • Open communication & decision-making
    • Advocated for Planning & Zoning pre-application process​ to ensure residents have opportunity to provide input before applicant has invested a lot in plan.​
    • Advocated for Town website upgrade to improve communication and transparency with residents. Website modernized in 2019.
    • Advocated for 2 weekly Town email messages to improve communication and transparency. Town initiated biweekly email blasts.
